The problem was that these successful men now had their record labels. So the only thing that they were interested in was signing other artists to their labels. Which defeated my purpose of trying to go independent in the first place.

Finally, I realized that there were not going to be any shortcuts to this. I needed to figure out how to (1) make more money "legally" and (2) invest money in the RIGHT places so that I could successfully build an independent music business from the ground up. After a few years of figuring those things out, I was able to quit my job and do music full-time.
